NURSING STANDARDS ASSESSMENT

The Australian Nursing Standards Assessment Tools (ANSAT) have been developed to assess practice in authentic situations and work place settings. They are user friendly tools that can be used to assess the performance of nursing students or graduates in practice. The tools are based on the standards defined by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). The scores for the items in the tools are determined by observed behaviours. They have been developed to assist consistency for nurses who are required to assess student and/or graduate performance in practice settings.

There are now two ANSATs. There is the ANSAT for RNs that has been used across the university sector for over five years; And recently an ANSAT for ENs has been developed through a collaborative process with education providers in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia. We are currently trialling the ANSAT for ENs.
